“13 going on 30”. The title of a nice movie I saw with my youngest daughter long time ago…nothing to do with what I would like to write, but somehow this makes me thinking of tomorrow.
Tomorrow is June the 13.
A new birthday to celebrate and I feel so uncomfortable writing in English, but apparently that’s the only way I can communicate with the “festeggiato”.
He is Swedish; I’m Italian.
He doesn’t speak Italian (which it’s unfair); I don’t speak Swedish (which it’s quite normal) but I can say God Jul.
He doesn’t speak French. French is my second language, not as perfect as my wonderful and superlative Italian, but good and understandable.
He speaks German; in German I can say “die Blumen ist schön” and I’m quite sure this won’t be very useful in our conversation, beside the fact that he can maybe offer to me a bunch of flowers…so in that case I could show up my German knowledge.
Of course he speaks English too, and I try… to cope with Shakespeare language, or better to say, with Italian-American from Brooklyn language, since I did an American full immersion in the ’80, overseas on the east coast.
…so this last one, is the only common language or at least the only language I can use to communicate with him….but not sure …I’ll be understood, because my English is a “Junkglish”(so terrible..I even try to make jokes which will make laugh no one except me)
To be honest I’m already tired…and I haven’t yet started to write what I wanted to say.
I’ll start again.

And Pär will be 29, or I can say that he will start his thirtieth year of life….so
“13 going on 30” it’s a title well chosen for my nonsense writing.
Dear Pär, too sorry, not to be able to write a nice story to celebrate your anniversary in a language that you can read and appreciate , so I will conclude with a very basic:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
I WISH YOU A WONDERFUL DAY…
And since internet is so useful and helpful, I can also tell you:
Grattis på födelsedagen
och lyckönskningar för en underbar dag kära Pär.
P.S.
Hope I didn’t say anything incorrect or even worst….
Please do learn Italian! It would be easier!
Dear Rebecca,
RépondreSupprimerthank you so much for the nice text and the birthday wishes. You really have the gift of writing, and the language doesn't matter. Your gift is your tool and the language your material. You have shown us that you can create something beautiful with whatever material you have in your hands.
This text was not nonsense writing, not to me.
Tack så mycket Rebecca.
Kramar
Pär
My internet translator tells me that you were thanking me, but it is not so performing and I have doubts about
RépondreSupprimerKramar
...but doesn’t matter
Thanks for the nice words you used
Kramar vuol dire abbracci
